Cross-country skiing in the Aurina valley
On the right trail
Glide through the snow-covered landscape, the winter sun on your back and the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site in sight – cross-country skiing in the Aurina valley is a pleasure for the body and soul. Whether it’s classic cross-country skiing or skating technique, a simple circuit or extended tours, there’s the right trail to suit all tastes and every fitness level in the immediate vicinity of the Hotel Windschar, our hotel in Val Pusteria.
The Aurina valley is a cross-country skiing paradise at the ideal altitude of 900 to 1,600 metres above sea level. More than 80 km of well-prepared cross-country skiing trails offer endless fun and challenge for beginners and advanced cross-country skiers in the Aurina valley. The cross-country skiing centre in Riva di Tures and the sunshine trail in Casere in the middle of an untouched and snow-covered landscape are highly recommended.
The perfectly groomed circular trails at Riscone sports park are just a few minutes by car from Brunico city centre. Depending on snow conditions, the more than 5 km long circuit runs from the sports area in Riscone to Santo Stefano and back again. The sun-kissed cross-country skiing trails are covered with artificial snow, if required, and can be used by beginners and professionals free of charge. You can hire equipment on site.
After cross-country skiing in the Aurina valley, try out the world championship cross-country skiing trails in Anterselva! The network of cross-country skiing trails around Südtirol Arena is vast and everyone can choose their own level of difficulty. The Biathlon World Cup takes place in Anterselva in January every year. The races are one of the absolute highlights of the season for the many fans.
